When the famous Shanghai icon, The Portman Ritz-Carlton, underwent a major transformation in 2014/ 2016, the hotel faced an inherent problem of having a low ceiling at its main entrance. To offset the structural feature Crystallize.Me, together with world renowned design company — Gensler, developed a unique cluster of sparkling lighting fixtures using a custom jewellery setting technique. The resulting crystal light piece brought focus back to the hotel lobby by fusing a classic technique with a modern design.

When Shangri-la decided to make a corporate statement at the heart of Shanghai, they erected this 7 stars luxury tower in Shanghai’s JingAn District. This hotel welcomes you with a 300sqM illuminated canopy made with hundreds of custom made crystal rods. This soft crystal ribbon as a design language expends all the way throughout the hotel, even in the lift cars. Crystallize.Me worked very hard with the US based HBA design firm to develop this features. We literally helped Shangri-la to crystallise this hotel.

We also custom made the chandlers for the banquet rooms, Chinese restaurant and few other public areas. Furthermore, in this project, Shanghai-la also commissioned us to co-work with seasoned Hong Kong design firm Kinney Chan to develop lighting for various dinning areas in the hotel.
